Latest Insights
I occasionally express strong convictions, particularly as I have a very strong sense of justice, especially in relation to the needs and capabilities of neurodiverse individuals. This section of the website reflects solely my personal views and does not represent the perspectives of the charity Owl Blue or its trustees.

Welcome to this new website. I acknowledge that this initiative may invite diverse opinions, particularly given its association with a complimentary service and a registered charity.
Allow me to explain before any judgments are formed.
Owl Blue, established in 2009, originated with a distinct mission and objective, although a completley different remit, it consistently maintained a commitment to assisting those in need. Over time, we expanded our focus to support neurodiverse individuals and those who share their lives. As the saying goes, "from small acorns mighty oaks grow," and indeed, Owl Blue's expertise and reputation have flourished alongside the increasing demand for our services.
We are honored that statutory services recognise our expertise and refer hundreds of individuals to us. Regrettably, they do not provide the necessary funding to operate at a level that promptly serves everyone. "Why do we not decline?" one might ask. The answer is, why should we? These individuals require assistance. They turn to the services they anticipate will aid them, only to be informed, perhaps less directly but essentially, that the service is only funded for signposting, not actual support. Owl Blue can provide assistance because we possess the requisite knowledge, yet the referring services do not share their funding with us. Consequently, we find ourselves as a small group of dedicated, qualified professionals with very limited funding, striving to do our best with the resources available.
Many of these resources are provided by you, our service users, who generously participate in marathons, auction goods, and purchase from our shop. While I do not endorse a two-tier society, the unfortunate reality persists that we never have sufficient resources to meet demand. Regrettably, kindness and goodwill do not cover expenses. I still hear those questioning, "Why do you not offer services for free? You are a charity!" The reality is we do, with a limit, because utility companies do not provide gas, electricity, or water without charge, and our offices require these to function. Sainsbury’s does not cover my groceries, Spar does not provide petrol free to charities, and no other providers of essential items do so either. Therfore, if I do not charge for some services, I will be compelled to seek employment elsewhere, resulting in the absence of any service.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. For those familiar with me, you understand that this situation is painful yet necessity dictates my actions.
